Dr. Michelle MacCarthy, DC
Dr. Michelle is classically trained as a chiropractor, and she practices a special type of chiropractic work that helps the spine and central nervous system work more efficiently and more effectively. Dr. Michelle is one of fewer than 150 female Doctors of Chiropractic in the world with the highest level of certification in Network Spinal Analysis (a gentle chiropractic approach) through the Association of Network Care.
While completing her business degree from Eastern Washington University in 2002, Michelle MacCarthy began a search for ways to minimize the debilitating pain her body was experiencing as a result of her active involvement in team sports. She was healthy, but suffered from chronic upper and lower back pain, her feet ached miserably and she struggled with a form of asthma that severely limited her breathing; she also suffered from allergies and was forced to take an array of medications. Her search led her to discover an important and highly recognized form of chiropractic help based on Network Spinal Analysis and Somato Respiratory Integration.
The new therapy produced a dramatic change: Dr. Michelle's once chronic upper and lower back pain began to disappear, the pain in her feet that made it difficult to play sports and walk began to subside. No longer affected by allergies, she stopped taking medications, and even her dependence on prescription eyeglass ended.
Greatly inspired by the work of Network Spinal Analysis, Dr. Michelle then enrolled in New College of California in San Francisco and then Life West Chiropractic College in Hayward, CA, an internationally recognized school for chiropractic training, to become a doctor of chiropractic. She earned her post-graduate degree in Doctor of Chiropractic and became Dr. Michelle MacCarthy, DC in 2008.
Dr. Michelle's goal is to build a strong community of people who value their health and who feel empowered to understand how they are affected by the world around them. Dr. Michelle is also a Crossfit Level 1 certified trainer and is highly involved with the Crossfit community and training for local Crossfit competitions.
Dr. Justin Letzt, DC
I believe everyone deserves a chance to reach an optimum level of vitality and health, not just freedom from symptoms.
The way I came to that conclusion was after my first two years of college at University of Michigan, where I was Pre-Med. I studied hard, but I realized I was becoming disillusioned by what I would be capable of doing to truly serve my patients and help them heal. I decided at that point that I would go in a different direction because I truly wanted to help people heal at the deepest level. A memory that has always been vivid from when I was a child... my father suffered with unrelenting low back pain for years. He tried everything and nothing seemed to help his pain. A friend of his told him about the great results he was getting from his chiropractor, and my father reluctantly agreed to see him. I remember being amazed by how quickly my father was becoming pain-free, naturally, under chiropractic care. This memory came flooding back to me when I realized how limiting my career would be as a medical doctor in regards to helping people truly heal.
That is when my life and career path changed courses and upon graduating from the University of Michigan, I went to Chiropractic College. I practiced in California for over 5 years, and served thousands of people and when I visited my cousin Dr. Carly Letzt Carney and the awesome team at Thriveology, I was blown away by the community that was forming here. I had to become a part of it.
We have a truly amazing group of doctors at Thriveology. I moved from California to join them. Our goal is to help as many people as possible have happier, healthier lives and to suffer less, and help others avoid drugs and surgery. The type of gentle chiropractic we practice works directly with the nervous system, to help reduce stress, tension, and nervous system interference.
Dr. Justin Letzt earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Southern California University of Health Sciences in Whittier, California. He worked for 5 years in California, helping many patients, and working closely with a very experienced and amazing chiropractor. He completed his B.A. in English Literature prior to going to Chiropractic school at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Chelsea Verslues, DC
I believe all people are capable of wholeness and vitality, and my mission is to contribute to a better, more cohesive community through the highest service of chiropractic care to each individual I come across.
I first became familiar with chiropractic after my father, a carpenter, was in serious pain. A local chiropractor in my home town saved his back and my family's livelihood. Since I was a little girl, my whole family and I have enjoyed the benefits of exceptional health because of the specific chiropractic care we have received.
I always knew guiding people to greater health and well-being was my calling; however, no medical professions seemed to fit. While completing my Bachelor of Science at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, I chose an internship with a local chiropractor, who explained the science of the spine and nervous system and the body's innate ability to heal itself. I was thrilled to discover a solution that, while very simple, made such an astonishing difference in people's lives.
Dr. Chelsea Verslues earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic from Parker University in Dallas, Texas. As part of her extensive hands-on training, she cared for hundreds of people of all ages and conditions both in the university clinic and as an intern at UNEVE's clinic in Ecatepec de Morelos, Mexico. Upon graduating, Chelsea received the prestigious James W. Parker Award, awarded to one student "who, to an outstanding degree, has demonstrated the principles of friendship, love of mankind, and the compassion to serve in the practice of chiropractic," as well as the honor of being elected into Who's Who in Chiropractic due to her leadership in vitalistic chiropractic.
Since then, she has and will continue to work tirelessly to find the best tools to serve people in the most life changing, empowering way. The type of gentle chiropractic, The Yoga of Chiropractic, done at Thriveology stands out as the most effective and sustainable method, helping both her and her patients heal and grow more than they ever thought possible.
